Paying your Taxes

Paying the Internal Revenue Service

The IRS will accept electronic payments from your bank account at no charge. You can also pay with a credit or debit card for an additional processing fee. Click here to go to IRS DirectPay.

Some tips for using DirectPay:

  • On the first screen, choose the reason for the payment and the year to which the payment applies.

  • On the second screen, you need to select a year where you have previously filed a return to verify your mailing address. Do not select the current year as it will not be processed yet.

  • If you get an error on the second screen, you will need to retype the Social Security number.

Paying New York State

Paying Other States

Most states will accept electronic payments from your bank account at no charge, and may also allow you to pay with a credit or debit card (usually for an additional fee).
